Right away I knew that I wanted our engagement pictures to be taken at the Steele County Free Fair. Two years ago it was Mark and I's first real date. We had hung out a few times, stayed up all night watching the August Perseid meteor shower, talked a lot over the phone. I'm pretty sure we already knew we were crazy about each other, but the fair was our first date.
The county fair is kind of a big deal around Owatonna. Minnesota's Largest County Fair, it was the site of Minnesota's State Fair in 1883 & 1884. It goes waaaay back.
Our wonderful photographer, Sarah from Agape Moments, was kind enough to come aaaalll the way down here for a special engagement photo session. We spent a good two hours roaming around the fair, taking advantage of all the photo ops. Sno cones (errr...or sno cups), ferris wheel, bumper cars, tilt-a-whirl, carousel, spinning barrel (That one reminded me of the You're The One That I Want song from Grease, come to think of it, our fun house even had the hanging barrels seen at the 2:17 mark. We should have recreated that scene!), and a lot more.
A few of our pictures were posted today on the Agape Moments blog! It's our first look at them, and I can't wait to see the rest! I love the way they turned out! Of course I'm being overly critical with myself and some of the faces I'm making, and why is my hand at that awkward angle? But she caught so many genuine moments between Mark and I, I can't wait to see what she does with our wedding (hopefully I'll have practiced my faces better before then ;) )
