6 Months To Go

We've hit the 6 month mark. Our wedding is now less than 6 months away. Eeep!

Let's check and see what the experts say I should be doing right about now:

  • Select and purchase invitations. Sill in the designing phase, it's all up here *taps noggin*.
  • Start planning a honeymoon. Mark and I will meet with a travel agent in the next couple of months to price out honeymoon options. Any suggestions on where to go? We are thinking Mexico but not sure where yet.
  • Shop for bridesmaids' dresses. Done and ordered months ago.
  • Meet with the officiant. Also done months ago, we should look through the information and start building our ceremony.
  • Send save the date cards. Cards are printed and will be in the mail within the week. Hopefully.
  • Reserve structural and electrical necessities. I'm thinking ceremony audio falls in this category, I do have to email our DJ and ask them about this.
  • Book a florist. Done! Check out the new vendor link in the sidebar, La Petite Fleur. Her stuff is beautiful. I can't wait to see our flowers.
  • Arrange transpiration. No need. Mark and I knew from the beginning that it would be smart to find a venue that could accommodate the ceremony and the reception to avoid any travel issues. This venue has an added bonus, skyway access to our hotel!
  • Start composing day-of timeline. I've been going through this in my head for a few months already. I think we have it figured all out.
Whew, looks like we are right where we should be. Wonder what they say we should be doing in the coming months:
  • Book the rehearsal-dinner venues.
  • Check on the wedding invitations.
  • Select and order the cake.
  • Purchase wedding shoes and start dress fittings.
  • Schedule hair and makeup artists.
  • Choose your music.
Well that doesn't look too bad. I'll have to also start the DIY projects that I have planned if I have any hope of getting it all done in time.

    It's All In The Details

I am all about the details and this wedding is no exception. I'll admit that I started a wedding file on my computer, well before I was technically engaged, to store all of the glorious images and ideas that I came across while helping my MoH plan her wedding last year. (To be fair I started her wedding file looong before I had mine.)

Oo! I like that dress: right click, save image as...
Oo! I love those flowers: right click, save image as...
OoOoOo! That needs to be our cake: right click, save image as...

My poor computer has a file that is 443 megabytes full of ideas.

Pintrest has changed all of that for me. Now all I have to do when I see something I like is click "Pin It" on my bookmark bar, choose what board I want it to be on, and it appears on my pintrest board.

It really is the coolest thing since sliced bread, the bees knees, the cats meow.

I mean, I have a board dedicated to wedding hair.

Plus what this has that my computer file doesn't have is direct links back to where I found it. I can pin stuff that I might want to buy for the wedding and when I'm ready to do so I can just find it on my board and it'll take me to right where I found it.

*Ok, public service announcement for Pintrest is over.*

The newest detail that has me giddy? Bright orange argyle socks for the men. ;)

    7 Months, 1 Week, 5 Days

Plans are coming along. Venue, check. Catering, check. Wedding Dress in my closet, check. Tuxes picked out, bridesmaids dresses also hanging in my closet, done and done.

This New Years Eve wedding that I've been planning in my head for far longer (wedding date may have been picked out before I even knew Mark) than I've been engaged is actually coming together. I started the blog months ago with intentions of sharing my DIY projects. I've still got plenty of those left to do but we'll see what actually makes on here. This may just turn out to be a place to unload my thoughts on this process. The process that will lead me to being a wife and a step-mother. Craziness!

So far everything has gone really well. No major freak outs. Just a minor one recently regarding bridesmaid dresses. So far it's the one thing that I wasn't 100% sure on, the one decision that made me anxious and stressed me out. Probably because someone other than me has to wear it, someone other than me is spending money on it. I've discovered that asking other people to spend money makes me uncomfortable. Yesterday I came across a different dress that sent my brain into what-if mode. What if this one rounds out the look of our wedding party better? What if this one is cuter, a wear it again type of dress?

Thankfully my MoH knows me well enough that she was able to talk me down from that ledge.

Up next in the planning? Alcohol and hotel accommodations. Funny how one comes after the other. ;)
