Font Overload!

As a graphic designer, I've been looking forward to designing my save the date cards and invitations for far too long. Probably since college, which was 7 years ago can you believe that?!?

Being the planner that I am I've had my general wedding "theme" figured out for a while now with a few variations rattling around in my brain. Mark and I came up with a clever save the date card idea in our early stages of planning and we are ready to finally put all the pieces together.

One problem.

I'm in font overload! I kid you not when I say that I have just over 100 (*edit* I just found another font folder on my computer that has well over 400 fonts, that's over 600 fonts to choose from!) fonts on my computer. Does a girl really need that many? Apparently I do. Sure I've got the basic fonts that came with my Mac then I discovered places like fontspace.com and fontface.com.* These sites are like free internet porn for graphic designers (don't get me started on the free vector graphic sites.) These free font sites remind me a lot of internet dating: you have to weed through the crap to get to the good ones.

There are reputable font sites like myfonts.com, you'll pay for the font but you won't get lost in the crap.

Here is a samplings of what we found on myfont.com:

See the price tags? $35? I'm ok paying that. $99? I'd better really like the font. Thankfully they have a feature where you can preview text in a selected font style. It's been a lifesaver so far.

We have it narrowed down to 5 6 strong candidates. We'll play around with them this weekend and see what we come up with.

Oh yeah, and this is just the selection process for the script font. I haven't begun to weed through the serif and san serif fonts for the body text of the save the dates and invites. There are over 45 fonts in that list...

*I've used both fontface.com and fontspace.com on my Mac and have never had a problem with computer viruses on these free download sites. I have no experience using these sites on a PC platform.
